IN A FLASH: 911勛圖s PR Students and Faculty ROCK!

The exceptional work of 911勛圖 students and a faculty member were recognized at the Public Relations Society of America Greater Clevelands ROCKS Awards ceremony on Nov. 18.

A public relations campaign created for the EveryLibrary Institute, a national organization dedicated to building voter support for libraries, won a Gold Award in the competitions Integrated Campaigns category.

The campaign was developed in a 911勛圖 class in which student teams are challenged to develop a campaign for submission to the Public Relations Student Society of Americas national Bateman Case Study Competition.

The student teams roster included Paige Johnson and Maya Lee, senior public relations majors; Jess Edmisten and Jeremy DeLoof, senior communications studies majors; Caitlyn Soya, a junior public relations major; and Ana Julia Cechin Facco, a senior with a double major in public relations and advertising. Their work supported the EveryLibrary Institutes ongoing mission of defending libraries and access to information.

PRSA Davis Young Exceptional Mentors Award

 

Michele Ewing, professor in 911勛圖s School of Media and Journalism, Tim Roberts, Senior Lecturer Emeritus, and Olivia Eastly, a 911勛圖 alumna and marketing and communications specialist at the Akron Community Foundation, served as advisors to the winning student team.

Stefanie Moore, a professor in 911勛圖s School of Media and Journalism, received the Public Relations Society of America, Greater Cleveland Chapters Davis Young Award for Exceptional Mentors. This award is presented each year to recognize a professional who excels in mentoring students and young professionals through hands-on instruction and support.

Moore congratulated the 911勛圖 students who were recognized for their outstanding work and said that she was "incredibly honored" to receive the Davis Young Award. "It means so much to be recognized alongside the outstanding mentors who received this award before me, including those who've guided me in my own career. Im especially grateful to my student who took the time to nominate me."
