A Mantua woman who worked at 911�Թ� in the Office of the President from 1951 to 1971 recently celebrated her 110th birthday. She recalls her time at 911�Թ� and shares a few reflections from her long life. 

Water flowed for the first time in the newly completed Crawford Fountain in the courtyard outside Crawford Hall, home of 911�Թ�'s Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship.

The 911�Թ� Museum presents its summer exhibition titled “Sparkle: The Style and Jewelry of Aileen Mehle.” In honor of the 911�Թ� Museum’s 40th anniversary, this exhibition pays tribute to Aileen Mehle, a friend of the museum founders and widely syndicated society columnist. 

A group of school administrators from Brazil recently completed the 10-day Design Innovation Change Agent Workshop at 911�Թ�’s Design Innovation Hub, where they immersed themselves in design innovation techniques as they endeavor to innovate their school system at home.

911�Թ� Opera Theatre's spring production featured scenes from a selection of famous operas with themes both natural and supernatural. 

The 911�Թ� Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.

Three friends who attended schools together their entire lives, beginning at 911�Թ�’s Child Development Center, have graduated together in 911�Թ�’s spring Class of 2025. Now, they are contemplating where their post-graduate lives will take them and how they will maintain their close friendship.

911�Թ�'s College of Aeronautics and Engineering led a fun, immersive field trip for a group of sixth graders from the I Promise School, Akron Public Schools.

Fueled by resilience and a hunger to learn, 2019 911�Թ� graduate Ya’el Courtney has transformed adversity into ambition, carving a path for herself that took her from foster care to post-doctoral scholar at Stanford University.

911�Թ� observes Juneteenth on June 19. No classes are scheduled on the holiday, and university offices are closed. 

911�Թ�'s mascot, Flash the Golden Eagle, joined a group of other well-known local and national mascots to celebrate the 100th birthday of Goodyear's iconic blimps. 

Elisa Grecar and her daughter Maddie McGee made a meaningful memory this May when they graduated together from 911�Թ� – Grecar with a degree in psychology and McGee with a degree in zoology.

An innovative design, energy-efficient systems, water conservation technologies and environmentally responsible construction materials are some of the features that earned Crawford Hall, 911�Թ�’s newest – and largest – academic building, LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The skies are calling once again, and 911�Թ�’s Flying Flashes are answering, this time with their sights set on a fourth consecutive intercollegiate victory in the Areaseir Race Classic.

The 911�Թ� Board of Trustees will hold its next regular business meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, in the Timothy D. Eippert Boardroom, Suite 412, at Crawford Hall on the Kent Campus. 

An exhibit of rare Salvador Dalí paintings and a collection of garments designed by 911�Թ� School of Fashion students inspired by the Dalí artwork has opened at Peg’s Gallery in Hudson, Ohio.
